my next project.

Anthropologie: Roaring Rose Head Wrap - photo

This is the Roaring Rose headband from Anthropologie, which I discovered recently in the winter catalog. I was super excited when I got it and spent a good fifteen minutes looking at the pictures (and the prices). Since I have misplaced my entire collection of hats and gloves somehow in the move to Tyler's house, I am on a mission to make a few hats before it gets too cold and I get stuck with outside recess duty:(
Anyhow, this is super simple to knit, if you are a knitter that is:)
The ribbed top and bottom are a K2P2 combination. The middle section of the headband is stockinette stitch. This can all be done on double pointed or circular needles (or regular needles if you want a seam up the back).
If you don't want to embark on the task of knitting all of the separate flowers, it would be equally as unique to simply pin a flower on it. I have a feeling I will be knitting the flowers....but thats just me:)
I can't wait to see how this turns out! Hopefully it won't take too long and I'll be able to post a photo!

what i want for christmas...

such a beautiful way to light a room! This delicate light cover, the Garden Shade Light from The Museum of Modern Art, designed by Tord Boontje, is something I've been eyeing for the past few years... I think I've got the perfect place for it. And what I love even more is that it is expandable. And a work of art in and of itself. Love.

Happy Thursday!

"Have you any notion how many books are written about women in the course of one year? Have you any notion how many are written by men? Are you aware that you are, perhaps, the most discussed animal in the universe?"
- Virgina Woolf

Another great quote. By a great writer.
Have a great day!

“we must create what we most need to find.”

a quote by Sabrina Ward Harrison.... who is quickly becoming one of my most favorite current artists. She is amazing. Her work is moving and thought provoking, yet delicately beautiful. It causes me to think. More deeply.

See her work here. 100 Bits of the World. A True Living Project.

one year ago today.....

Tyler and I were moving into our first home together. I can't believe it has already been one year! Together we have accomplished so much, making our home a better and happier place to live. Making it ours. We still have much to do, but we have years to fill. With that being said, I will be posting a few before and afters. Because one cannot understand the magnitude of difference unless they have seen the beginning.

My favorite part of the new season:)

The tall Salted Carmel SIgnature Hot Chocolate.... I don't even want to know how much money I have spent on these things in the last two months. So good :)

And according to my new Real Simple magazine,
-Hallmark says we use 2 billion Christmas cards each holiday season
-The average person spends 10 hours total Christmas shopping
-Kate's Paperie states most of us need 6 rolls of gift wrap and an average of 3 hours to wrap them all!!

Oh how I can't wait for the holiday season!!!! Yay!

things i love right now...

This book by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. If you can get past the whole "Full House" turned party girls drama, their new line of clothing and what inspires them is pretty neat. I admit. I do love them. This movie, Australia, with Hugh Jackman and, who else but Nicole Kidman. Baz Luhrman directs and right there, you've got an amazing movie. I cannot wait to see it. These adorable owl salt and pepper shakers from anthro. So fitting for my collection of little owls:) And this haircut. I still am deliberating, but I think this is the way I'm going to go... we shall see:)
